Zorns folkmusik
Konsert - Bok - CD
The concert "Zorns folkmusik"
...is about the Swedish artist, Anders Zorn, from Mora (1860 -1920) and his love for Swedish folk music. Jeanett and Peter have collected anecdotes, paintings and events from Zorn's life to illustrate the music and dances that were such an important part of the artist's life and have thereby influenced today's folk music. The concert, book and CD include music that we know Zorn listened to, played, sang and danced to himself, despite the fact that over 100 years have gone by. The music includes everything from swinging polkas, folk songs, hymns and music from Swedish "fäbodar"
Jeanett Rousu: violin, viola d'amore, saxophone, spilåpipa
Peter Rousu: guitar
During and after the concert it is possible to buy the book, "Zorns folkmusik" with sheet music, pictures and stories, along with a CD with a selection of the songs from the book.
The book and CD can be bought in the "försäljning i webbutiken" and at Folkmusikens hus in Rättvik

The CD was produced with support from the Swedish Cultural Council
In Zorn's fishing cabin called Gopsmor, in Gopshus, outside of Mora, Sweden, Anders Zorn invited the area's youth and fiddlers to dance and play. Everything should be as it had been before, with traditional folk clothes, eating and dancing. To be able to relive this music and dancing at Gopsmor 100 years after the artist's death was a reverent, magical and joyous experience. Here is a video recorded in this the same cabin illustrated on Zorn's famous painting "Dans i Gopsmorstugan"
Jeanett Rousu: viola d'amore, Peter Rousu: guitar
Dancers: Johan Trolin, Stina Lind, Solveig Malmsten, Anders Underdal Holm, Kari Underdal Holm & Örjan Jonsson.

During a cold Fall day in 2021 we recorded this loving song that is a part of the concert Zorn's Folk Music. "Av hjärtat jag dig älskar"
At the first fiddler's competition that Anders Zorn organized at Gesundaberget in 1906, this was one of the most played songs. The recording was made at Danielsgården in Bingsjö, Sweden. The typical dala painting in this house was done by Winter Carl Hansson between 1799 and 1801.
Vocal: Malin Foxdal - Nyckelharpa: Henrik Eriksson - Viola d'amore: Jeanett Walerholt Rousu - Guitar: Peter Rousu
We recorded this tune "Av hjärtat jag dig älskar"-"I love you with all my heart" at Danielsgården in Bingsjö, Dalarna. The tune was a "hit" in the beginning of the last century and the tune were played several times by different local musicians in Dalarna during the first folk music contest in Sweden 1906 in Gesunda close to Mora. Anders Zorn, the initiator of the contest, wanted to lift local musicians and their old music, with the purpose of preserving, in that time dying, old traditions by letting them compete and win the prize, a fairly big amount of money. When Anders heard the tune he fell in love with it and learned the tune himself.
The paintings on the walls were made by Winter Carl Hansson 1799-1801.
